The 2009 Chasing Venus Pinot Gris is 100% from the Comely Bank vineyard. Comely Bank is situated in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley and covers 90 acres of land of old river bed soils that lie in a local rain shadow. The conditions found here contribute strongly to the intense and quintessentially “Marlborough” characters that the fruit from this vineyard displays. Comely Bank was planted in 2000 predominately in Sauvignon Blanc with a small amount of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The 2009 Chasing Venus Pinot Gris fruit comes from a small 26-acre portion of the vineyard known as the Road Block.
