2009 was picture perfect for growing grapes in Lake County. No extreme frost or rain events and cooler than normal temperatures allowed us to ripen our grapes slowly, allowing maximum flavor, concentration and intensity.
Lake County is California’s hidden treasure for growing cabernet sauvignon grapes and the Red Hills Vineyard where we source ours is one of the best. We carefully blended in cabs from Alexander Valley and Chalk Hill to amplify the structure and then a little petit verdot to juice up the black fruit component. Finally, a little Dunnigan Hills syrah was added to soften and lengthen the finish.
